Each year, Valley Watercolor Society holds an Annual Juried Exhibit with rotating judges over the years. To be eligible to show in the 2018 exhibit, you must be a member of VWS and have paid your dues by September 30, 2017.
The juror for 2018 is John Paul Thornton, artist, author and educator. John Paul has written “Art and Courage: Stories to Inspire the Artist-Warrior Within.” Educated at Parsons School of Design and California State University at Northridge, John Paul has traveled extensively, enabling him to study global as well as western art. A beloved lecturer on art history, John Paul is also in demand as an art instructor. His series of portraits of America’s missing children has been exhibited widely, most notably at the National Mall in front of the White House and at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. He has received numerous grants and awards and was recognized by the California State Senate and United States Congress for his work linking social causes with art.
